Sage, Rose, Mary, and Time

"Sage, Rose, Mary, and Time" is a writing prompt/game concept created for the SeedComp! 2023 Planting round. It's licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0 International.

The prompt is this:

Sage, Rose, and Mary have been friends for as long as any of them can remember. "Since diapers," says Rose. Sage claims to have met Rose and Mary in preschool, but Mary says their mothers were best friends when they were in the womb. Regardless, the three have always been inseparable.

But now they're entering sixth grade, and middle school changes everything. Now something has happened that threatens to tear the three apart. Will they ever be the same? How will they manage to hold on to each other in the face of growing up?
