Seriously, though, I feel really bad for the protagonist. Too many people got their life savings swindled away by crypto shills. Plus this guy's poor and lonely and he can't check the boxes of normalcy and get himself the houseplant studio apartment life you're supposed to have, which makes him the perfect target.
He has a family now though
